Suffering

So I have been really suffering for about 3 days now. I do not know why but my band is really pissed at me. I am so tight water is barley going down. Every time I drank yesterday I would get harsh pain and have to go get sick. Today is a bit better but not great. I have such bad heart burn it is not even funny. I am scheduled to go see my surgeon on wednesday as that is the only day that they are in the clinic. I am truly hoping that I do not dehydrate by that time.

Has anyone ever gotten an ulcer after lapband surgery???? When I do my research on it, it makes me wonder if that is what my big issue is. I wonder if that is why my band is sooo sensitive.. All I know is that I can not keep feeling this way.. So off for an unfill again. I would like 1 cc taken out, which would put me at 2 ccs. I hope that is enough. I am also thinking I might go back to my post op diet just to get rid of all the swelling. I am going to talk to my surgeon about the possibility of an ulcer and if they feel it maybe that go back to my GP and get a perscription for that. I want to feel better. I know I want to lose weight but not this way if you know what I mean..

  1. Definitely do liquids for at least a couple of days. You may also need to take Prilosec OTC to help alleviate the swelling. Its what my surgeon had me take when I was swollen from being too tight. Good luck and feel better.

  2. I have never had an experience of being this tight (moments of maybe but not continuous time) the heartburn I can understand as alcohol gives me heartburn and god forbid I should just not drink!!???? So, heres what I do and this just might tide you over until you see your doctor. Try a really good heartburn medication like a Zantac tablet or other we can get them from the supermarket now in australia and I'm pretty sure you can there too. Its a small tablet but cut it up if you cant get it down. Trust me they are sooooo worth it! It eases the swelling in your stomach lining which will give you a little more room in your band. They're really good for those days (like the first day of your period) when you are ten times tighter than normal but dont want to get an unfill cause you know you'll be fine in a couple of days. My doctor also prescribed me a fluid tablet for those days as well which really help too. I would really give zantac a try and you can even get double strength which might be what you need in this state. Either way I hope it all goes well it sounds to me like you just have a really upset stomach lining and you may even have a little bit of food stuck in your band (thats VERY common) but as soon as you get a little unfill you'll be right as rain! Good luck luv!! Keep us posted!

  3. Oh and remember warm fluids go down easier than cold or cool and milk is awesome for heartburn so maybe try some warm milk???

  4. It is miserable to be too tight so I completely understand. I hope you get some relief soon. I agree, take some nexium or prilosec to help with heartburn/swelling and stick to liquids.

  5. So I have tried the warm milk and it just curdles. (GROUSE) LOL>... I have not been able to find prilosec otc here in canada but will go in and ask. I have been taking zantac regularily but because nothing is really going down it sits there and actually hurts more.. Soooo lol. My hubby got me some liquid gaviscon so I will give that a try.. Thanks for the suggestions...

  6. So sorry I know how horrible this is. Have you tried warm chicken broth? That was the only thing I could get down right after my overfill last week.

Can you go to the ER for an unfill? If they can help you I would go and not wait until Wed. No need to suffer this much if you don't have to.

  7. I had something similar happen this past week. Everything made me feel stuck, slime, and/or pb, no heartburn fortunately though. I was researching slipped bands, ulcers, pouch/esophogeal dilation. Then the day before yesterday I was suddenly fine again, coincidentally (?) I also started spotting as I often do just before my period starts. I am chalking it up to hormone changes this time. Could this be a factor for you?

  8. Please call your doctor tomorrow morning. These are the symptoms I had. I don't mean to scare you but the condition got worse and worse until last month the band was removed during emergency surgery because the esophagus had become so distended. It's nothing to mess around with. Your doctor needs and wants to know if you're experiencing these symptoms. Be safe, not sorry.
