My new black beauty

Well this is my new black beauty. She made her big appearance last night after it got dark out but that did not stop me and my six kiddies from jumping on our bikes and going for a spin.. I tied on a flashlight to the front of my bike and off we went down our country road.... We did not go far but boy did we have fun.. This is going to create more fun stuff for my kids, hubby and I to do.. My son with autism also got a new bike and my hubby. I will slowly be buying each of my other kiddies a new bike. My oldest daughter is riding my old bike which she able to do but the bike looks huge for her. So she will be next in line for a nice new bike.. I am so happy we did this.

On band news I am down 1.6 lbs this morning. I almost a a 2 lbs loss but will take this. That means I am 1.4 lbs away from 40 lbs. Ohhhh that might be next week.. So excited.

So this weekend my friend is suppose to be coming over to see us. She will hopefully stay a few days. I want to go take her to the new little casino an hour away to play bingo. I love bingo. Rarely get to go but love it.. I find it is a great way to sit and socialize and basically get out of the house.

On a bit more of a frustrating news my 8 year old has mild autism. I have been having so many issues at school with him I hate the phone calls home and being asked and what is going on in the home right now.. Nothing I know my son, I know when he is shutting down, I know not to push certain buttons.. I maybe judged as a parent when I say he is not going to be able to do the things other grade 2 students do I do not expect him to. He has his strengths he loves to build, make things out of paper listen to music and so on. He may not be a c student but he has his strengths. I know I am rambling on here but I just get so upset with the way education is setup.. I was ready to pull him out of school yesterday because he refused to get on the bus so my hubby had to go pick him up. I am just tired. Any suggestions from all my banded mommas out there????

Well anyways I got a nice shiny bike so need to smile it up... Hope everyone has an awesome weekend...

  1. I love the new bike. I ride, too. Maybe we should start a bike challenge - the banded bikers lol.

I am sorry that you haven't found an advocate for your son at school. It is frustrating when they don't see our kids they way we do.

Boy you have your hands full with six kids between 5 and 10. God bless you!

  2. HI Michelle, My 18 year old step son has autism or Asperger's syndrome. My husband and I struggled through the school systems in a couple of states. Some were great some were not. Thankfully, by pulling teeth, Nate graduated with his class last year. He now lives with his Mom and is going to the community college. So, there is hope. Just keep pushing him and the school system. It is very hard work emotionally but so worth it. Good luck to you.

  3. Hi Michelle,
You know Autism is a struggle with the education system. It's hard to keep on top of the teachers but you have to. Most of them are so uneducated about autism so they don't know how to teach. As I found out with my kids, the education system teaches to the "normal" and if your kid doesn't fall into the status quo, they are usually ignored or left behind because the teachers just don't have the time or patience to deal with the ones that need extra attention. Sad but true.
I have had behavioral struggles with my oldest for most of his schooling. Not autism but behavior issues. The youngest had issues as well, but he has outgrown them and is doing great in 9th grade. My oldest hasn't and now he struggles with marijuana addiction (yes you can be addicted), lack of motivation to go to school, get a job. He is 17 and is a huge source of frustration for me. He has been to juvenile detention, 3 rehabs and Mom is tired and broke. I think these things go along with having kids. You take the good with the bad!
    Good luck!
    Marie

  4. Hi Michelle, I saw your comment on my blog and see you are doing really great! My second fill is in two weeks, and I am really hoping this will make a difference in my weight loss. So far I have only lost about 20, and most of that is from before surgery. I am really disappointed so far. I am going to read your blog for inspiration. What is your secret? Linda

  6. I know teachers have a tough job, but there are definitely those that should have chosen another profession. My youngest brother was kicked out of preschool and the "teacher" told my mother he'd never amount to anything. Really! She equates a mouthy 4 yr old with being a future loser. I bet a lot of you had little losers running around in your home. A few years later it was determined that he is a genius and he skipped a grade (I think it was 3rd). He said it was the worst thing that could have happened because not only did the students tease him, but the teachers made snide comments and belittled him. Of course, as a successful adult he has the last laugh (Sr. VP, Big Salary, Big House, Great family). Anyway, this is my roundabout way of saying hang in there.

Question about bikes. I've tried doing the bike thing and my butt end up hurting like crazy. Does your butt hurt?
